My daughter turned 3 in December but with her birthday, Christmas and other holiday activities, we didn’t really get a chance to work on three. We told her she was three, she enjoyed blowing out the candles on her cake but when we asked her “how old are you?” She responded with “I’m two”.
“No baby you are three now…” She looked at me like okay mommy whatever you say.
That is why last week was all about three.
We used foam beads I found at Michael’s to trace the number three.
We did a collecting activity to understand grouping.
She is a fan of the English Nursery Rhyme “Three Little Kittens”.
This was a hit! She loved decorating her mittens and she kept saying “see three mittens”.
We had “school time” Which was quite the task she sat for maybe a minute but I know she is learning.
By the time we got to Thursday I wanted to test her, just to see what she had learned so far and she recognized grouping three.
And Friday was puzzle day
I found this Melissa & Doug puzzle on Amazon.
The Wooden Bear Mix-N-Match was awesome! She played with this for hours! She changed their faces, which come with different expressions and a great way to discuss emotions. Also, she really got into changing their outfits and we discussed their family dynamic.
We had fun and these activities are easy as well as inexpensive
Now when we ask her “how old are you?” She says with confidence “I’m three”
