Yesterday, we had a cold front come through, which unfortunately changed our plans, so my daughter and I headed to Michael’s for a few last minute items.
Here are the items we bought and the activities they inspired.
Crayola pink and red glitter paint
I like that you can buy them individually for under two dollars each.
We used the paint for stamps, I made a stamp out of a clothes pin and a wooden heart I had leftover from a previous project and we also used her play-doh cutter heart.
She loved dipping the stamps in the paint. This kept her busy for a little while but I must warn you, it gets messy. After a while paint was not only on the paper it was on her hands, then she touched her hair… good times.
Pink duct tape and foam shaped hearts
She saw pink duct tape and had to have it. I t was funny I have never seen someone get so excited over tape but she said “ooo it’s pink!” and placed it in our basket. She also picked up some purple duct tape but I told her calm down and pick one, she decided to stay with pink.
I had no clue at first what to do with the duct tape but then I remembered seeing a tic tac toe game on Pinterest Valentine’s Day themed and thought we could do that.
I think I enjoyed this activity a little bit more than she did, it held her attention for a few minutes.
Foam shape hearts
Tic Tac Toe lead to her wanting to put the hearts on the wall and then afterwards she took them down and arranged them on the floor.
I love when she comes up with her own activities.
This was her favorite, she was arranging and rearranging them today also.
Cookie cutter cupcakes and pink glitter
As we were headed to the front of the store they caught her eye and for a dollar each, I let her get three.
We took them home and did a science project with them.
I placed them in a container to control the mess. I gave her baking soda, vinegar, glitter and sweethearts.
I loved watching her reaction as the cupcakes started to fizz and how hands on she was the entire time. This was a winner too, she asked her daddy to do this with her. Considering his background is in Physics, I can’t wait to see what he decides to do with her.
That was all of our activities yesterday.
Although we did them on Valentine’s Day, they are fun for any day.
Hope you had a fantastic Valentine’s Day and if you decide to do any of these projects please share them with us using the #mommyingmyway.
